Greg informed me a few weeks back that he had technically finished 3rd year. I am use to more of a celebration when he completes a year, but this year it just faded into him starting another rotation. He has finished all the core rotations of 3rd year and is now in an ER elective, which will be complete in 2 weeks.
The next couple of months are going to be brutal as he studies for the 2nd round of board tests. One he will take in May in Houston. We will spend a little time visiting with family, then he is back to the books for another test in June.
The pressure is still not off. Greg then has the responsibility of applying to residency programs, that will decide his career path and our future for the next 5-6 years! This is a tedious process of gathering letters of recommendation, filling out applications, and writing a pulitzer prize winning personal statement that makes you stand out from the other 500 applicants that want the same residency spot as you. Sound fun yet?
All of this is due in September. Then the fun really begins, as we wait on pins and needles for invites for Greg to interview all over the country. Then we get to wait again until March 2011 to find out where he matched at residency program and where our next home will be..... In the midst of all this uncertainty and lack of control (you know how great Greg and I are at coping with those factors), we are doing are best to enjoy where we are for the moment.
